Three recipients of the E.R. Cass Correctional Achievement Award — retired Lt. Col. David Haasenritter, who received the award in 2016; retired Lt. Col. Peter Grande, who received the award this year; and retired Maj. Gen. Mark Inch, who received the award in 2013 — pose for a photo together at the American Correctional Association’s 156th Congress of Correction July 31, 2026, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The three award recipients are all members of the 1982 commissioning year group, and all three served at the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, while on active duty. Grande continues to serve as a volunteer as the USDB’s chief of history.
