BREMERTON, Wash. – Capt. Karla M. Lepore, commanding officer of Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Bremerton, delivers opening remarks to leadership, staff and visitors who gathered on the command quarter deck for a cake cutting honoring the 79th anniversary of the U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps (MSC) at Naval Hospital Bremerton, Aug. 4, 2026. Established by an Act of Congress on Aug. 4, 1947, the MSC comprises a vital network of health care administrators, clinicians and scientific specialists who maintain force health protection, fleet readiness, and patient care across land and sea. Following military tradition, the anniversary cake was jointly cut by the most senior and most junior MSC officers present at the command, symbolizing the bridge between decades of administrative and clinical heritage and the future of naval medicine.
