Former U.S. Navy Seal Christopher Fettes, local businessman and entrepreneur, gives an inspirational speech to Sailors assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), during an ice cream social in the ship’s wardroom, Aug. 5, 2026. The event was sponsored by the Command Religious Ministry Department and the 1st Class Petty Officer Association. Bataan is currently undergoing regularly scheduled maintenance in the General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia.
