Sailors assigned to Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity (SIMA) Norfolk pose for a group photo after assembling an Expeditionary Maintenance Container (EMC) in support of the upcoming Ship Wartime Repair and Maintenance Exercise. The containers are strategically laden to support Expeditionary Repair Availabilities by providing the tools, equipment and materials needed to conduct expeditionary ship repairs and battle damage assessment and repair, strengthening the Navy’s ability to rapidly restore warfighting capability in contested environments. The U.S. Navy reestablished SIMA commands in Norfolk and San Diego in June. The reestablishment directly supports the Navy's vision of utilizing a responsive, Sailor-led force to optimize materiel readiness while building Sailors' technical expertise and fleet self-sufficiency.
