Cpl. Brandon Cerda and Spc. Trinity Cerda, both combat medic specialists assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), reenlist together at Fort Campbell, Ky. The Cerdas, a dual-military couple, balance service, family and the demands of Army life while continuing their commitment to the Army and their son, Leon.

Dual-military relationships, also known as mil-to-mil relationships, occur when two service members are married. For the Cerdas, serving together has brought challenges, but also a shared sense of purpose.

“I enjoy my job, and I also enjoy my family,” Cpl. Cerda said. “Trying to juggle both is stressful, but I know that we can work out anything coming our way, and I think that offers more value to our family and profession.”

Both Soldiers chose to raise their right hands again as they prepare for their next chapter and permanent change of station.

“We want what’s best for ourselves and our son,” Spc. Cerda said. “Since joining the Army, we’ve had the opportunity to develop not only ourselves but the Soldiers we mentor. I know that reenlisting together will develop our family even more.”
