    Electricians from the 110th Civil Engineer Squadron, 31st Civil Engineer Squadron, and 200th RED HORSE Squadron repair a water chlorination system at Aviano Air Base, Italy, June 24, 2026. The team modified the chlorination system by wiring the chlorination pump directly to the water pumps, ensuring chlorine is injected only while water is being pumped into the installation’s water tower. The upgrade provides more consistent, accurate and predictable chlorination levels while improving the reliability of the base’s potable water system.

    The project addressed an issue in which the chlorination pump operated continuously, causing inconsistent chlorine concentrations in the water supply. By synchronizing the chlorination pump with the water pumps, the electricians implemented a practical solution that improved system performance and reduced fluctuations in chlorine levels.

    Throughout the project, electricians from the 110th Civil Engineer Squadron shared expertise gained through their civilian electrical careers, providing hands-on training and mentorship to Airmen assigned to the 31st Civil Engineer Squadron and the 200th RED HORSE Squadron. The collaborative effort strengthened technical proficiency across all three units while enhancing the resiliency of critical installation infrastructure.
