Lt. Gen. Donna Shipton, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Commander, presided over the inactivation of the 21st Intelligence Squadron on June 22, 2026 at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
During the ceremony, the squadron’s guidon was officially furled and cased, marking the end of an era. Squadron commander Lt. Col. Nicholas Swanson and Maj. Aaron Han were both awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for their leadership and guidance of the intelligence staff.
First stood up in 2007, the 21st IS team now transitions to the AFLCMC Intelligence Directorate.
