Naval District Washington firefighters including companies from Naval Support Activity South Potomac, Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, and Naval Air Station Patuxent River conduct “spring burns” live fire training at the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute Southern Maryland Campus on May 7. Immersed in heat, smoke, and fast moving scenarios, crews practiced controlling a simulated interior structure fire and executed Rapid Intervention Team deployment to rescue fellow firefighters. Live Fire training gives our crews a powerful opportunity to refine critical skills and reinforcement to the teamwork that keeps firefighters and the communities they protect safe for the challenges of real emergencies.
