The U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) community was saddened by the recent death of Col. (ret) Reed Young, who served as commander of U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground from 2011 to 2014, which included the busiest test workload year in the post's history: 2.8 million direct labor hours in Fiscal Year 2011. Following his retirement, Dr. Young was the Program Manager for Robotics and Autonomy at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. Young will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors on June 4, 2026. Here, Young speaks at Arizona Centennial Time Capsule event at the Yuma County Public Library on February 10, 2012.
