SEMBACH, Germany - U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Roger Giraud, commander of Medical Readiness Command, Europe, and command surgeon for U.S. Army Europe and Africa, hosted a meeting with Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Johannes Backus, Bundeswehr Surgeon General and commander of the Bundeswehr Medical Support Command, at the Medical Readiness Command, Europe Headquarters April 9. Among the topics covered during their meeting, the senior medical leaders discussed the structures and roles of U.S. military medical assets within the U.S. Army Europe and Africa area of operations. Maj. Gen. Backus also provided an update on the Bundeswehr’s innovative patient flow hub and cluster concept. The highly successful meeting concluded with a focus on future partnership opportunities, including bilateral operational planning teams to address complex medical problem sets encountered in large-scale combat operations.
