Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) was recently recognized by the Elizabeth River Project River Restoration Advisory Committee for Sustained Distinguished Performance at the Model Level. A River Star Hall of Famer since 2017, NNSY has continued its valued partnership with the Elizabeth River Project and was commended for the Small Boat Operations Team and other volunteers for their efforts in supporting the revitalization of the Oyster Restoration Project and for its continual pollution prevention efforts resulting in the removal of approximately 2,458 pounds of trash from the river in 2025. River Stars are recognized for demonstrating committed and continual environmental stewardship through efforts including pollution prevention and habitat improvements.
