JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON – (March 3, 2026) – The 155th Anniversary of the U.S. Navy Medical Corps was celebrated at Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio at the Battlefield Health and Trauma Research Institute. Cutting the cake are Medical Corps Officers Capt. Michael Tiller, commanding officer, NAMRU San Antonio and Cmdr. Stacy Coulthard, deputy director, Combat Casualty Care and Operational Medicine. Since March 3, 1871, members of the Navy Medical Corps have defined the world standard for military medicine, providing heroic, compassionate care while serving in harm's way across the globe. NAMRU San Antonio, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, conducts gap-driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research in support of Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality while engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
