This is a 240-acre grove of giant Western Red Cedars that escaped the Great Fires of 1910. Estimated to be around 500 years old, the cedars are part of a national natural landmark. An interpretive hiking trail winds through this grove on the St. Joe Ranger District near Clarkia, Idaho. (Forest Service photo by Patrick Lair)
