    SGT Pooler

U.S. Army Reserve Sgt. Caitlyn Pooler is passionate about going to local high schools in the city of Phoenix, Arizona and telling the students about how great serving is and telling her story. She was once a high school student herself dreaming of one day being the first female in her family to join the military. That was a door she described that led her to become a member of the 56th Military Police Company in Mesa, Arizona. She leads 188 soldiers as the 42A, human resources supervisor, and full time Active Guard Reserve (AGR) Soldier of the unit.

She describes the 56th as one big family and enjoys looking out for the soldiers, as well as helping them out with training and any administrative issues they encounter. The life of an AGR is a tough position with work hours sometimes late at night or weekends, but SGT Pooler feels like it’s worth it and she has purpose when it comes to her job. She enjoys interacting with her soldiers and that’s how she got the AGR position in the first place as her leadership noticed her connection to other soldiers in the unit.

The unit is preparing for a family day at a local park across the street from the unit full of bouncy houses, great food, and good company. Family day is a chance for the families to get together before the holidays and spend time together in a social setting to help unit cohesion. The same unit that pinned her SGT as she spoke about one of the proudest moments of her career, SGT Pooler had her young 4-year-old daughter, Morgan pins the SGT rank on her in front of her unit at the promotion ceremony. Her face lit up, and she got emotional as she talked about her daughter, a pride she has with her being a mom and a soldier.

Her career plans are to stay in the military for 20 years because that’s what she wants to do for the rest of her life. She also has been looking into recruiting more for the army. She loves giving words of encouragement and helping people transition into the army. She plans on influencing younger generations for years to come.
