This week’s #TeamPopeHighlight is Karen Smith, 43rd Air Mobility Operations Group Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) chief. Smith served on active-duty in the Air Force for 25 years as a clinical social worker. After enjoying her terminal leave, Smith took up the position of chief of SAPR as a civilian and worked with the Air Force for another 13 years. While serving in the SAPR office, she and her team won Air Mobility Command SAPR Team of the Year in 2020. When she started in the SAPR office, it was her and one other person. During her tenure, the office grew to four total. As she retires, the SAPR team strives to continue to care for all active-duty members on Pope.
