Brig. Gen. Jason Voorheis, program executive officer (PEO) for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Fighters & Advanced Aircraft Directorate, promoted Senior Master Sgt. Ryan Knickerbocker to the rank of Chief Master Sgt. during a ceremony at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Nov. 25, 2025. Knickerbocker is on the right in the photo.
Chief is the pinnacle of Air Force enlisted ranks and is widely regarded as one of the hardest ranks to achieve Air Force wide. Only about 1% of the Air Force enlisted force ever achieve the rank.
Knickerbocker serves as the senior enlisted leader (SEL) for the directorate and advises the PEO on enlisted matters.
