On November 17, 2025, a North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) F-16 Fighting Falcon refuels from an Alaska Air National Guard KC-135 Stratotanker during Operation GLOBAL GUARDIAN 26-1 over the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. Operation GLOBAL GUARDIAN 26-1 was a collaborative effort between the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and NORAD. Each NORAD region in Alaska, Canada, and the Continental U.S. coordinated to sequentially intercept a Bomber Task Force from U.S. Strategic Command. These intercepts of a simulated threat demonstrate a cooperative and collaborate defense, strengthening our ability to deter shared threats through a layered defense of North America by linking defense activities abroad.
