JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON - (Nov. 12, 2025) – Lt. Col. Todd Collins, U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, was awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal by U.S. Navy Capt. Michael Tiller, commanding officer, Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio, during a retirement ceremony held at the Fort Sam Houston Golf Club. Collins, a graduate of Texas A&M University, enlisted in the Navy Reserve in 1989 as a hospital corpsman and upon his graduation from veterinary college in 1999, was commissioned as a captain in the U.S. Army. NAMRU San Antonio, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development (NMR&D), conducts gap-driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research in support of Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality while engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
