Mrs. Emily Corey, RN, CDCES, is the Breast Care Coordinator aboard Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point. She is responsible for assisting Active-Duty service members, their families and beneficiaries find resources in their fight against Breast Cancer.
In October, Corey engaged patients and fellow staff members by organizing a fitness challenge, distributing education materials and set up a lobby display to raise awareness about breast cancer.
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime and while breast cancer in men is rare, it often carries a higher mortality rate because men are less likely to assume a lump is cancer, according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
