U.S. Army Sgt. Terrance White serves with Joint Task Force–District of Columbia as a radio telephone operator in the Tactical Operations Center in Washington, D.C., Oct. 7, 2025. In this role, White inputs real-time information from the field, maintains direct communication with the battle captain, and tracks Soldier movements to ensure operational awareness and accountability throughout the mission.
A 92A automated logistical specialist by trade, White brings precision and reliability to every task. Outside of uniform, he works as a contracting specialist.
For White, the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission carries personal meaning.
“It gives citizens and Soldiers a chance to help beautify their community,” he said. “People are no longer afraid to come out of their homes, to walk and exercise. They’re more willing to come into D.C. and spend time with their families. That’s always a positive.”
Motivated by a strong sense of duty and a desire to set an example for his son, White views military service as a pathway forward. “I want my son to see that there is a path,” he said. “The military is not what people make it out to be—it’s a pathway to success.” (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Spc.
