PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii – Sept. 2, 2025 – Noah Green, an instructor with Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, talks to Rear Adm. Nicholas Homan, commander, Fleet Information Warfare Command Pacific (FIWCPAC), and his staff about the original switchboard of Hypo Station, the site formerly known as Fleet Radio Unit Pacific (FRUPAC) during a tour Sept. 2, 2025. FRUPAC was the U.S. Navy signals monitoring and cryptographic intelligence unit in Hawaii during World War II. The tour offered Homan’s information warfare team a look at the information technology of the past that helped the U.S. prevail in the Pacific during WWII. PHNSY & IMF’s mission is to keep the Navy’s fleet “Fit to Fight" by repairing, maintaining, and modernizing the Navy's fast-attack submarines and surface ships. Strategically located in the heart of the Pacific, it is the most comprehensive fleet repair and maintenance facility between the U.S. West Coast and the Far East. (U.S. Navy photo by Mike Wilson)
