The 11th Armored Cavalry Division honored reserve Col. Eugeniusz Praczuk, 98 years young, as standard bearer of Polish military tradition during its 80th Anniversary in Zagan, Poland, Sept. 12, 2025. Praczuk began his Polish military service at age 17 as Signal officer -- the youngest officer in his unit. First a member of the underground Polish Home Army during German occupation, he would be interned by advancing Soviet forces in 1944, before escaping a train bound for Siberia and joining the newly formed Polish 1st Armored Corps.
