U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Olivia Griffin, an explosive ordnance technician, and a native of Rye, New Hampshire, with Combat Logistics Battalion 15 (CLB 15), Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), was named Task Force Forge‘s Defender of the Week, Aug. 26, 2025, for her exceptional contributions to the southern border mission in Yuma, Ariz.
Throughout the southern border mission, she has created detailed route planning, identified key areas of interest, and tracked over 85 real-time missions, involving over 150 Marines and Sailors. Her efforts ensured precise situational awareness and seamless mission oversight, directly enabling mission success at every level.
Griffin played a vital role in maintaining operational tempo by delivering timely and accurate updates to leadership within Task Force Forge and JTF-SB. Her reporting allowed commanders to make informed, time-sensitive decisions in fast-evolving environments. Her outstanding performance reflects the highest standards of the Marine Corps’ Explosive Ordnance Disposal community, the Marine Corps, and sets a benchmark for excellence across the force.
When asked about her hard work ethic, Griffin said, “I like to create a culture of excellence when it comes to my work because I take a lot of pride in what I do”.
CLB 15, the command element for Task Force Forge, recognizes an outstanding Marine or Sailor each week who demonstrates exceptional performance, initiative, and excellence in support of the southern border mission, highlighting their critical role in national security efforts.
