VILSECK, Germany - On Friday Sept. 5, U.S. Army Medical Department Activity Bavaria held its change of command ceremony where they bid farewell to the outgoing commander, U.S. Army Col. Zack Solomon and welcomed the incoming commander, U.S. Army Col. Colin Frament. Presiding over the ceremony was U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Roger Giraud, commander of Medical Readiness Command, Europe and director of Defense Health Network Europe. MEDDAC Bavaria is an integrated ambulatory health system supporting over 40,000 Soldiers, Family Members, and Civilians in 3 countries and 8 separate communities. The command has 5 ambulatory health clinics located in Ansbach, Grafenwöhr, Hohenfels, Stuttgart, and Vilseck, and an operational medicine clinic at forward operating station (FOS) in Mihail Kogălniceanu(MK), Romania, and until recently, an operational medicine clinic at Novo Selo Training Area (NSTA), Bulgaria. Headquartered at Rose Barracks in Vilseck, the command provides health services and force health protection to the 7th Army Training Command, USAREUR’s combat brigades, and three garrisons.
