An aerial photo of the terminal structure for the Pipestem Dam Spillway in Jamestown, North Dakota, from Aug. 26, 20255, currently under construction by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractors. Following an unexpected slope failure on April 24, 2024, the team quickly stabilized the site and designed an Earth Retention System to safely resume construction. Despite the setback, the left side of the terminal structure was completed during the 2024 season, setting the stage for steady advancement through winter and spring. Once complete, the project will greatly reduce dam safety risks related to spillway erosion. Final efforts will focus on drainage, grading and site restoration to ensure long-term durability.
