SEMBACH, Germany - On August 29, the Minister President of Rhineland-Pfalz, Alexander Schweitzer, visited the construction site of the new Rhine Ordnance Barracks Medical Center (ROBMC) being built near Ramstein Air Base. Accompanying the Minister President was U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Roger Giraud, director of Defense Health Network Europe and commander of Medical Readiness Command Europe. The new ROBMC medical facility will be the largest and most modern U.S. military hospital outside the continental U.S. and is set to replace the existing Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and Ramstein 86th Medical Group Clinic. The new hospital will ensure continued U.S. readiness for rapid trauma care for warfighters in future contingencies while also providing warfighters and their families with modern, world-class healthcare facilities they deserve for years to come.
