The USS Anchorage (LPD-23), a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship, is seen Monday, May 6, 2013, departing its namesake port of Anchorage, Alaska, framed by the city's downtown and the Chugach Mountain Range. The vessel officially joined the U.S. Navy during a commissioning ceremony held at the port on May 4, and holds a complement of approximately 700 Sailors and Marines.
