PORTSMOUTH, Va. (August 8, 2025) A group of teenage volunteers were each awarded Red Cross certificates during a ceremony Aug. 8 at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. The ceremony marks the end of six weeks during which the twenty-eight teens, ages 14-17, rotated between 20 different clinics and areas here at NMCP and its branch clinics. They provided volunteer support to the hospital and got the opportunity to experience and observe the workings of a military treatment facility. The American Red Cross VolunTEEN Program is a unique program that allows military affiliated teens interested in the medical field the opportunity to gain professional development skills while giving back to the military community.
