Lt. Essie D. Gutierrez has been recognized as the Get Real Get Better Champion for the second quarter of Fiscal year 2025, for Expeditionary Medical Facility, 150 Bravo.
The award, presented August 1, 2025, noted that Gutierrez demonstrated the mindset of fostering a culture of ownership and choosing to think, act and operate differently.
She was acknowledged as the most deserving candidate based on continuous hard work and determination while pursuing values, mindset, and behaviors of Get Real Get Better and by finding areas for individual and team improvement, such as utilizing problem solving methods to earn first place at Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Bremerton Process Improvement Fair.
Gutierrez also collaborated with other stakeholders in the production of a recorded educational video that led to streamlined patient in the Gastroenterology Department while providing effective preoperative teaching regarding colonoscopies. “Her actions resulted in 100 percent improvement in patient education and satisfaction with zero negative outcomes. Her consistent display of commitment, improvement and creative solutions have resulted in positive changes for Navy Medicine that will outlast her tenure.”
