A local woman carrying water bows in thanks to Marines with the command element, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, who are on the way to assist with Operation Field Day in Honshu, Japan, on April 4, 2011. The operation is a debris-clearing and cleanup project designed to open harbor access and area roads on the island. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit is participating in Operation Tomodachi at the request of the Japanese government after the 9.0 earthquake and tsunami devastated the northeast coast of Japan.
