    Commanding General of the U.S. Army Warrior Transition Command Brig. Gen. Gary Cheek announces the inaugural Warrior Games at a Pentagon press conference on Jan. 7, 2010. Cheek also serves as the assistant surgeon general for warrior care and transition. The games, organized by the Department of Defense in cooperation with the U.S. Olympic Committee, will involve 200 wounded warriors drawn proportionally from all branches of the U.S. military. Competitions will be held in 10 athletic disciplines including cycling, archery, swimming, wheelchair basketball and an all-encompassing Ultimate Warrior Pentathlon. The Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., will serve as the venue for the games to be held May 10-14, 2010. With Cheek on the podium is Charles Huebner, chief of Paralympics on the U.S. Olympic Committee.
