U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Jason Condon with 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment communicates with headquarters during a civil affairs group patrol with Afghan National Army soldiers in the Nawa District of Helmand province, Afghanistan, on July 17, 2009. Condon is a battalion air officer with the unit. The Marines are deployed to support NATO's International Security Assistance Force and will participate in counter insurgency operations. They also will train and mentor Afghan National Security Forces to improve security and stability in the country.
