U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Geneva Myers ensures that the barrels of the Phalanx close-in weapons system are tight as part of a pre-fire inspection on the port fantail mount aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) underway in the Arabian Sea on May 17, 2007. The Phalanx is one of the Stennis' self defense systems used to combat close-in air or surface threats.
