Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Galen Roberts directs the operator of a crane onboard the USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52) as it lowers a truck onto the pier in Karachi, Pakistan, on Oct. 18, 2005. The dock landing ship carried the first U.S. Navy shipload of supplies for the Pakistani relief effort. The Department of Defense is participating in the multinational effort to provide humanitarian assistance and support to Pakistan and parts of India and Afghanistan following a devastating earthquake.
