    A C-130 Hercules equipped with the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System streams a charge of Phos-Chek fire retardant on the Manter fire in California's Sequoia National Forest on July 31, 2000. More than 2,300 servicemembers from the Army, Marines, Air and Army Guard and Air Force Reserve are conducting firefighting and support operations for the Western wildfires in response to requests from the National Interagency Firefighting Center in Boise, Idaho, and as directed by the governors of several states. The Hercules is operating from the 146th Airlift Wing, Channel Island Air National Guard Station, Calif.
