President Bill Clinton happily salutes a newly enlisted sailor following a special enlistment ceremony on board the USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) in New York harbor, on July 4, 2000. Clinton administered the oath of enlistment to a group of Navy recruits on the carrier's flight deck. The president was on the aircraft carrier to receive honors from ships as they passed in review during the International Naval Review and Operation Sail 2000.
