    1st Lt. John Slevin, a U.S. Army physician's assistant, checks the face of an elderly Serbian woman during a medical civil assistance program in the village of Silovo, Kosovo, on May 5, 2000. Slevin is attached to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Brigade, 63 Armor Battalion, of Veilseck, Germany, and is deployed to Kosovo, as part of KFOR. KFOR is the NATO-led, international military force in Kosovo on the peacekeeping mission known as Operation Joint Guardian.
