Three HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters lift off from Hoedspruit Air Force Base, South Africa, on March 9, 2000. The helicopters are headed to Beira, Mozambique, where they will aid in the distribution of relief supplies and rescue stranded flood victims as part of Operation Atlas Response. Operation Atlas Response is the U.S. military's contribution to relief efforts following torrential rains and flooding in southern Mozambique and South Africa. The helicopters, deployed from the 41st Rescue Squadron, Moody Air Force Base, Ga, were flown into South Africa by U.S. Air Force C-5 Galaxy aircraft.
