A U.S. Navy F-14A Tomcat goes into full afterburner as it prepares to catapult from the flight deck of USS Enterprise (CVN 65) during night flight operations on Feb. 14, 2000, in the Atlantic Ocean. Red lights are used to illuminate the flight deck because the red light won't interfere with the night vision of the air crews and the flight deck crew. The Tomcat is attached to Fighter Squadron 41 of Naval Air Station Oceana, Va. The aircraft carrier is conducting carrier qualifications in the Atlantic.
