A crew member of a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III directs a fork lift operator as equipment and U.S. military personnel are unloaded at Cairo West Air Base, Egypt, on Oct. 2, 1999, for Exercise Bright Star '99/00. Bright Star is a joint/combined command post and tactical field exercise in Egypt involving over 50,000 participants from 11 countries. The annual exercise is designed to improve readiness and interoperability between U.S., Egyptian and coalition forces. The Globemaster is deployed from Charleston Air Force Base, S.C.
