American and Russian soldiers pass out flyers to the citizens of Kamenica, Kosovo, on July 15, 1999. The flyers are asking the citizens to give a thumbs up to the KFOR soldier as a sign of peace. American soldiers from the 9th Psychological Battalion, Fort Bragg, N.C., are working side-by-side with the Russian soldiers from the 76th Airborne Division. KFOR is the NATO-led, international military force deployed to Kosovo on the peacekeeping mission known as Operation Joint Guardian.
