U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Darren Hooper directs an aircraft landing at Rinas Airport, Tiranë, Albania, during NATO Operation Allied Force on April 29, 1999. Operation Allied Force is the air operation against targets in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. U.S. Army and Air Force controllers have taken over the air traffic control mission at the airport often handling hundreds of military and civilian aircraft daily. Hooper is an air traffic controller from the 1st Operations Support Squadron, Langley Air Force Base, Va.
