A U.S. Navy F-14 Tomcat goes to full afterburner as it prepares to launch from the flight deck of the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) on April 7, 1999. The Roosevelt and its embarked Carrier Air Wing 8 are operating in the Adriatic Sea in support of the NATO Operation Allied Force. Operation Allied Force is the air operation against targets in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The Tomcat is attached to Fighter Squadron 41 from Naval Air Station Oceana, Va.
