Secretary of Defense William Cohen (left) is welcomed at the residence of Crown Prince Hassan in Amman, Jordan, Nov. 5, 1998. In the absence of his father, King Hussein, who is undergoing medical treatment in the United States, Prince Hassan met with Cohen to discuss the possibility of military action against Iraq. Jordan was the only country of the eleven visited by Cohen on his four-day, whirlwind tour of Europe and the Middle East that was not a member of the Gulf Coalition which fought Saddam Hussein during Operation Desert Storm.
