Secretary of Defense William Cohen (left) and former CIA Director John Deutch (right) unveil the portrait of the late Les Aspin during ceremonies at the Pentagon, June 23, 1998. Aspin served as President Clinton's first secretary of defense from Jan. 20, 1993 to Feb. 4, 1994. Mr. Aspin passed away on May 21, 1995. The portrait, by artist John Martin, will be exhibited in a special Pentagon corridor dedicated to the men who have held the office of Secretary of Defense.
