The nuclear powered submarine is operating in the Persian Gulf as part of the USS George Washington (CVN 73) battle group in support of Operation Southern Watch which is the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq. Rogers is from Birmingham, Ala., Fletcher is a Navy machinist's mate from Lyons, N.Y., and Bolin is a Navy yeoman from Russell Springs, Ky.
