A U.S. Navy F-14B Tomcat prepares to make an arrested landing on board the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) as the ship conducts flight operations in the Persian Gulf on Nov. 24, 1997. Washington and her embarked Carrier Air Wing One are operating in the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch which is the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq. The Tomcat is assigned to Fighter Squadron 102 from Naval Air Station Oceana, Va.
