A U.S. Air Force MH-53J Pave Low helicopter is unloaded from a C-5 Galaxy at the Libreville International Airport, Republic of Gabon, on March 25, 1997. Command and support elements for a forward joint task force and other enabling elements are deploying to locations in several West African countries as part of contingency planning for a possible future evacuation from Zaire. The deployment is an enhancement to planning for contingency measures to ensure the security of U.S. citizens in Zaire if an evacuation should become necessary. The Pave Low and its crew are deployed from the 21st Special Operations Squadron, RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom. The C-5 is from the 9th Airlift Squadron, Dover Air Force Base, Del.
