Military Policeman Sgt. David Smith, U.S. Marine Corps, escorts a woman and her child towards a waiting helicopter in a field inside the U.S. Embassy housing compound at Tirana, Albania, on March 14, 1997, during Operation Silver Wake. Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) are performing a Non-combatant Evacuation Operation (NEO) to ensure the safety of American citizens and designated third country nationals. The Marines are part of the USS Nassau (LHA 4) Amphibious Readiness Group.
