Airlift Rodeo '96 is the United States Transportation Command's tanker/airlift competition which tests the flight and ground skills of aircrews as well as the related skills of combat control, security police, aerial port, aeromedical evacuation, and maintenance team members. Crews from the U.S. and nine other countries are participating in the competition held this year at McChord Air Force Base, Wash. The team was given a mission to find, secure, and escort a United Nations convoy out of enemy territory while under constant threat of land mines, and sniper fire. The 349th is from Travis Air Force Base, Calif.
